Lotus F1 History & Team Record
After successfully buying the Renault F1 team in 2010, Gerard Lopez sold a minority share to Lotus Group of Malaysia. After a legal battle over the use of the name with Tony Fernandes' 1Malayasia team during 2011, the team entered under the Lotus F1 Team name for the 2012 championship with returning World Champion Kimi Raikkonen leading the team, partnered by the returning Romain Grosjean. The season was marked by consistent performances by Raikkonen and spectacular crashes by Grosjean, which led to him being suspended for the Italian GP. The teams form was rewarded with a victory in Abu Dhabi and fourth place in the Constructors Championship.
